Getting started

Repeto separates what you know from when you should see it again. You create notes and cards inside decks. During review, Repeto uses your rating and the card’s history to schedule the next appearance.

Choose the smallest useful starting point

Start with one subject you expect to study this week. A focused deck is easier to check for accuracy and easier to turn into a daily habit than a large imported collection.

You can begin in either direction:

• Choose New deck on the Decks page to create a deck and its generation profile.
• Choose Import to bring an Anki .apkg package into your collection.

When you create a deck, choose the card style that matches the material: Translation, Concept, Q&A, Cloze, or Manual only. Translation decks also need source and target languages. This profile guides AI generation; it does not prevent you from adding cards manually.

Add your first note

Open the deck, choose its note type, and fill the fields. A simple Q&A note might contain:

Question: What does the hippocampus help form?
Answer: New episodic memories.

Repeto creates one or more cards from that note according to its templates. This distinction matters: editing the note later can update every related card together. Read Cards, notes, and fields before creating custom reverse cards.

Review the draft before studying

AI-generated content is always a draft. Check names, numbers, translations, and source-specific claims. Short prompts with one clear answer generally produce stronger review cards than paragraphs copied wholesale.

For imported material, review the import preview before applying it. Imported templates can contain styling and media that need inspection in Repeto’s renderer.

Start a study session

Choose Study on a deck row. If the deck has subdecks, the session includes eligible cards in that deck and its descendants. The reviewer shows one question at a time:

1. Try to recall the answer before revealing it.
2. Reveal the back with the card, Space, or Enter.
3. Rate the result with Again, Hard, Good, or Easy.
4. Continue until the due queue is complete or end the session.

Use the rating that describes your actual recall. FSRS learns from this history, so consistently flattering ratings make future schedules less useful.

What the card states mean

• New: never studied.
• Learning: introduced and moving through short learning steps.
• Review: graduated from learning and scheduled by its memory state.
• Relearning: previously reviewed, then forgotten and returned to short steps.
• Mature: a review card with an interval of at least 21 days. This is a reporting category, not a separate queue.

A practical first week

Add a modest number of trustworthy notes, then review what is due before adding another large batch. If the daily workload feels wrong, open the deck’s Settings page and adjust its private scheduling copy or today-only limits. See Deck options and presets for the scope of each control.

Repeto’s web application and API are still preparing for release. The parity roadmap records which Anki-compatible workflows are complete, partial, or planned.
